The problem

South Africa is desperate for student accommodation. My Student House fills this gap by providing students with safe and affordable accommodation. We thrive on providing the country’s future, with the comfort of suitable accommodation so that they can focus on their studies. The business demanded a lot of my time, and I did not have the expert knowledge to take it to the next level of growth. I needed a financial and strategic planning expert to take us successfully to the next level and beyond. Rochell Serdyn was that expert and is now ingrained in my team.

The solution

Today we have our house in order with a 5-year strategy in place. New procedures and processes facilitate the strategy for the growth of My Student House. Financial disciplines have been put in place. Automation also plays an important role and there is now adequate support for us to service our students. We can now focus on our clients; the students and especially equipping them to excel in their studies and life after university. The CFO Centre continues to support My Student House as we work towards reaching our goal of 10 000 students and 1 billion Rand turnover.

My goal is to get to 10 000 students that signup with us every single year. This means that I can help and change 10 000 students’ lives every single year. 10 000 students would result in a whopping R1 billion business, which blows my mind! If we continue on this trend of doubling every year, which is a 5 year journey, it’s not that far away. That is what I want to get to, that’s my vision.
