What would you like to say to your CFO?
David McGarry: This is just to say thank you to Lynda Connon for the work she’s done with me for the last 18 months. We’ve grown exceptionally quick in that time and processes and controls haven’t quite kept up with that. But with Lynda’s support, she’s been able to keep us on track as we’ve become the new size business that we are today.
What one or two big issues/untapped opportunities were you facing before you started working with us?
David McGarry: One of the biggest issues we’re facing at the moment is our temp operating arm of the business, which is quite complex given, you know, we’re paying out money on behalf of clients and invoicing and all that sort of cash flow that goes around that and Lynda’s obviously been helping to support on that to make sure it all makes sense and it all works.
What have been the benefits to your business?
David McGarry: The biggest benefit I’ve had with Lynda has been processes and controls. Over the last couple of years, we’ve grown from a single-site, very small business into a multi-site, multi-million-pound turnover business. When you grow at that sort of speed, processes and controls are important, especially when it’s the back end of the business and its finances, so Lynda’s been great with this.
What personally have been the benefits to you?
David McGarry: The biggest benefit, is peace of mind and not having to worry about certain financial things. The business is now at such a size that I can’t track and manage every single transaction that’s happening. So, the control in the process that we have through what Lynda supports gives me peace of mind that things are being done properly so I can focus on the operational side of the business and bring in more revenue to us.
What is the number that really matters to you?
David McGarry: The number that really matters to me is 10, that’s 10 million for revenue that I’m working towards getting our business to. Clearly, to get to that size, that complexity of business, financial support is key, and clearly Lynda, and what we do, will be integral.
