I am a hands-on, commercially focussed business partner with international experience gained primarily within the operating business units of multinational engineering and manufacturing groups. These groups have been both listed and US PE backed. I have successfully improved profitability and cash flows, strengthened the control and risk environment, developed teams, and restored the credibility of financial data/analysis. My various roles have seen me deliver this success whilst working with over 10 senior leadership teams (SLTs) in the past 20 years at businesses located in the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Finance lead for an acquisition integration, a data room and disposals via trade sale, MBO and site closures. Worked closely with founder of a joint venture to complete 100% sale to FTSE 100 group.

Developed tailored dashboards and KPIs for use by SLT and staff. Led continuous reviews to improve management information.

Track Record Highlights

  • Worked with new MD to successfully turnround a recently commissioned $25m manufacturing facility in Shanghai from loss making to sustained profitability. Subsequently drafted a regional expansion plan for the owners, a FTSE 100 Group.
  • Completed a $30m greenfield manufacturing start-up in Malaysia on time and within budget, recruited the finance team and oversaw an ERP implementation.
  • Seconded to overseas manufacturer (revenue £20m) to investigate poor profit/cash flows and subsequently drafted a Business Improvement Plan for Group CEO/CFO.
  • Initially performed a review of proposed plan, then became finance lead on a project to merge two profitable US manufacturing sites (combined turnover exceeding £100m), in order that one site could close and sold for redevelopment.
  • As regional FD covering six legal entities spread across eight time zones delivered significant growth with revenues almost doubling to £100m in three years. Developed finance and operations teams reporting and data understanding at the newly commissioned manufacturing facilities.
  • Embedded cash retention mentality across sales and procurement teams, e.g. “salaries are paid from cash, not profits or margins”.
  • Data Migration Director on SAP implementation covering four multi-site businesses across the UK and Ireland. Subsequently held senior finance roles at those businesses to deliver the anticipated benefits of SAP whilst also transitioning to using the new UK based shared service centre.
